ResumePolish ("we", "our", or "us") runs the ResumePolish resume optimization service. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect when you use the service, why we collect it, and how we protect it.

By using ResumePolish, you agree to the collection and use of information described in this policy.

Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use our service:

• Resume content — The text of your resume, either pasted into the app or extracted from an uploaded PDF/DOCX file.
• Contact information — Optional name, email address, phone number, mailing address, LinkedIn profile, and portfolio/website if you want those details included in your optimized resume.
• Target role — The job title or role you want to target.
• IP address — Collected automatically for rate limiting and abuse prevention.
• Language preference — The language you choose for the optimized resume.

How We Use Your Information

• To process your resume and prepare your optimized version.
• To generate the resume PDF you request.
• To prevent abuse and enforce rate limits on our service.
• To keep the service reliable and fix technical issues.
• To understand which parts of the product work, where users get stuck, and when errors happen using privacy-protected analytics and monitoring tools.

Automated Processing

• Resume Optimization: Your resume text is processed to prepare your results. We do not use your resume content for advertising. If a third-party processing provider is used, it may process your resume only for the service you requested. It is not allowed to use your personal data or resume content to train public models.

Data Storage and Retention

We store your data only for the time needed to provide the service and maintain account history.

• Session duration — Anonymous session data expires and is automatically deleted after ~24 hours.
• Accounts — We store your resume history and credits so your account keeps working during your job search. For your privacy, account resume history is automatically cleared after 30 days of inactivity.
• Free-offer abuse prevention — If a verified account claims a free Complete Fix, we retain a keyed, one-way fingerprint derived from the verified email address for up to six months. We do not store the email address in this record. The limited marker survives account deletion solely to prevent repeated promotional claims and is automatically deleted when it expires.
• Uploaded files — PDF and DOCX files are processed in memory and are not permanently stored on disk.

Cookies

ResumePolish uses functional cookies to keep authentication and resume sessions working. We also use product analytics and monitoring tools that may set or read their own identifiers to understand which parts of the product work, where users get stuck, and when errors happen. We do not use your resume content or contact details for advertising.

In some embedded webviews and restricted browsers, the app may use browser session storage as a temporary auth fallback. This helps a newly signed-in user finish checkout and unlock their resume without being logged out partway through.

Analytics and Monitoring

• Product analytics — We use analytics tools to measure events such as button clicks, resume parsing, optimization, checkout starts, unlocks, and export actions.
• Error monitoring — We use monitoring tools to investigate crashes, slow pages, and failed requests.
• Masked replay — Resume text, typed inputs, and media are masked in our replay and recording tools by default.
• Account identification — If you sign in, analytics tools may associate events with identifiers such as your user ID and email address. This helps us understand account-specific errors and checkout activity.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Your resume data is shared only with:

• AI processing providers — We send only the resume text needed to process the optimization you requested.
• Database and storage providers — These providers store account, session, credit, and resume-result data for the retention periods described above.
• Analytics and error monitoring providers — We use service providers to collect product analytics, performance telemetry, crash reports, and masked session replay data.
• Payment processors — These providers handle payment transactions. They do not receive your resume content.
• Email providers — These providers send support messages and, when requested, deliver your optimized resume.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us. We aim to respond to deletion requests within 3 business days.
• Ask what data we have about you. For anonymous sessions, this is limited to the 24-hour window. For accounts, it is your stored history.
• Choose not to provide optional contact information.
• Avoid using the service if you do not want to submit your resume.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including HTTPS, rate limiting, and automatic data expiration. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, but we design the product to limit how much data is kept and for how long.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version on this page and update the date above. If you continue using the service after a change is posted, the updated policy applies.
